terminal 3 open house

sat was the LAST weekend i did maintenance for labs, in 2007. Was quite a slow start, then finished with a bang with a complete inspection of 1 lab. Found that those non-scroller mice tend to get vandalised. So tit-for-tat, i won't replace it with a brand new scroller. Just use a working cover from the past faulty ones :p

then i rushed down to T3 via 72 then 27, with lunch at CS in the middle. Remembered that the Simlim korea stall has a branch at CS' Food Junction, so off i went. But the lady wasn't as friendly, and worse of all the seafood toufu soup had missing items - the cockles! Vegetables were miserably cut, everything were in minute quantities, except for the egg and prawns. The prawns weren't deshelled too =x

what a booboo, i took the wrong direction for 27. Until i confirmed with the driver, he coolly replied "T3? i just came from there" -.-"

$1 for self tour, $3 for guided tour.
Actually you can just walk a lil' slower and listen to the guides even with $1.

B2 - There's a Kopitiam foodcourt, Yakun, etc etc

One of their lifts - much more lifts in T3

Level 2 - Departure level

Across the check-in rows, green walls create a cool and scenic feeling

Check-in row #3 - cool air directed to the area via those holes

Crossroad - Departure gate, entry into Transit Mall

This seat isn't hard. Try it when you're there

All these for $1.

Entering the Transit Mall (restricted area)

At the Crossroad - in this direction is 'B' departure gates.
The other direction was closed to public.

Quite a number of shops in TMall.

Clear view of the existing runway.

Departure gates B1 to B4. Open concept

Closed to the public, because it links to T1's restricted area.

Done with the Transit Mall, going down to Arrival level

Closer look at Green Wall, background is Belt 48

Sandstone Art Wall

girls do take note! There's a powder room in the Transit Mall, in the direction towards 'A' departure gates! In the booklet it is supposed to be an ultra-chic dressing room, make-up area and restroom. Argh, so unfair to guys.

since the restricted areas are linked, i can probably ask my parents to tour T3 next year. But it will be an ultra long walk, since SIA's short haul flights remain at T2 (imagine walking from T2 to T1 then to T3 and back).

then rushed to Queensway to buy my footgear for the kayak course. This nike cost me $52, sigh. Then dinner was curry mee at Lucky Plaza, plus Dome's tropical fruity gelato and ice lemon tea. Dome is good (not because of the food =x). Shopped in Orchard for HK's greeting cards, and i bought my Braun Ear-nose trimmer for $25 at taka's sale.

Yummy~

the trimmer is good. No need for scissors anymore. But there was a pesky long one, which i had to pluck it out myself. Gory details private. Tata~

sigh

bought a pack of chips in the afternoon, didn't get to eat it. Was worried on hearing what happened earlier, then subsequently the chocolatey issue. Hope things improve.

back to work

i drank the pint of heineken, and got somewhat drowsy (i'm a poor drinker). Quickly hopped into bed and slept. But it was an uneasy sleep as i kept fidgeting. Even woke up early at 9am, but with a heavy head.

perhaps it's because of the hacking of the flooring outside my house. It's so darn loud, and worse of all, dust from the hacking. Traces of it were on my padlock, door frame, etc. Argh.

went cwp for an early lunch, then off to nyp. Was quite busy from the start - part-time students asking where their presentation is, me kena pulled by a lecturer to solve a problem at the LT. The LT proved to be a real problem, because i had to be there to ensure the switchover between lecturers happened smoothly from 12-2pm.

happened to see the briefing by TK, SH etc to year 2 DBI juniors on OPP. It was more of a travel presentation i felt - scenery of Hangzhou, girls of Suzhou (no offense to the presenter). Nevertheless it's good to have such professional exchanges at a polytechnic level, which wasn't available during my time.

the night was spent on clearing my lab. Took out all the power extensions and network cables that we put in much effort to do. Cos the tables are going upstairs, yet coming back down next year. So much is repetitive work, oh well...

Dismantled so much of stuff in an evening.
But i'm not a superman! Don't treat me as one also!

had a short chat with wl. She's pretty much on track to the java submission, so i'm quite amazed for that. Also came were questions related to NUS' computing - i think i should summarise my advice and related life experiences in a few points:

- if you are selected to join SIT as DT, congrats. But think carefully before you sign on the dotted line (eg. do you really need the money?). Also, university curriculum changes rapidly, sometimes as a disadvantage to later batches. So you're forewarned.

- depending on which stream (EC, IS, CS, CM, CE) you enroll in, the syllabus varies. BUT

- generally, any coursework is research-based, and is quite a potent dose.

- the last study semester is a litmus test of your ability to cope later, regardless of discipline. If you break, you'd break every semester in university (i'm dead serious on this point)

- don't be hindered by your own thoughts. If you think it isn't possible, then it's surely impossible. (vice versa)

- if you dare to try, you'll be rewarded.

what does these mean? I welcome you as a senior, to hell. Should i say hell in NUS is better than anywhere else? =x

of course my ex classmate Jeff will try to gather votes for SMU's SIS in the coming NYP talk. Haha... both are good :)

project watercooling

yx passed me his CPU to mod, and i took 4 good months to act on it =x

stage 1 is completed - transferring of parts to the new casing. stage 2 will be done in the coming week, which is the installation of water cooling components and the flow indicator.

The back fan actually shows the RPM and temp

Bling bling!

That's all folks, for now

it's the first time i'm going to work with watercooling. Hope my fish tank experience helps. lolz...

lunch was a disaster

the attempt to talk to her and tell her my worries screwed up, and her answer was the more worse. I was eating halfway. Just stared at my lunch lifelessly and told myself to finish it.

in a fit of silent anger i bought a pint of Heineken. Hopefully with it, i can convince my inner self, to forget it.

- even if we tell her all true stories abt all these stuff she won't listen... until she experience it herself

- it's no use if u keep forcing it... you'll just hurt urself...

Fish Leong - 崇拜 - this song is special.

song recommendations

looked at more of Janice's (卫兰) songs - really pleasant to the ears.

weekend happenings

actually... not so happening la.

Ivana surprised me with a gift =) Thank you...

saturday was busy at work, with a long work report. Full maintenance done in one lab, then i decided to do a major cleanup to 2 project rooms. Now its spick and span, hope the comps won't get vandalised again. Otherwise they will be out of the rooms... sigh. Then i met up with HK, went over to SSDC.

finally i booked my BTT! After procrastinating for months! But the test is in Feb, and me being the blur sotong went to chop 25 Feb 2008 -.-". Which was right in my travel period. Sigh... looks like march will be the actual test month. We also saw Jaslin, one of the famous models nowadays, doing some promo for a Bikers mag. She looks really good, better than photos. Just google it and you know my meaning.

then we met up with XJ and Simon to book our kayak course, on the 15-16 Dec. Just before we leave for Hong Kong. We crapped a bit, like the ba mia HK has. Then his bad encounter with his colleague, an ex-NYPian from DMD. HK, really must think more like a gentleman lor... haha.

a girl called Mun Ting registered our names and we also signed up as PAssion members, all for $85. We remembered her name, cos she looked lian-ish and had quite a sense of humour. Like...

- XJ: Can i pay by credit card?
- MT: No, we only accept Nets. Or you can pay by gold bars if you have.
- We: -.-?

HK, XJ and Simon

Myself

i'm really looking forward to turn darker soon!!! =x

next we went over to the hawker opposite Golden Mile, had the famous prawn mee. Wasn't that nice lei, still alright only. As usual when guys get together, the topic is always on girls =x the girl wearing black tube opposite us, the "big chest" girl of Simon's friend. lolz... after the brunch off we went to Expo. Got the 1GB RAM for Jiahao, was tempted to get a pda too. Luckily i transferred my cash to Stanchart, and my Clear card's balance was below $200. Even if i wanted to buy, no ready cash too.

WELCOME TO SINGAPORE - SITEX

finally topped off the day at Thaiexpress. I FINALLY got to taste my tomyam steamboat after... months of waiting. And renewed my membership at $15! It's one of the restaurants i love and will keep loving, besides Waraku. Slept like a pig on 960... really.

sunday was at meinu's place. I skipped the 10km run, cos i already promised her to fix the lappy. And i slept too late too, 3am. Didn't want to wake up at 5am then turn up there just for the run. Although i paid $45 plus the hassle of returning the ChampionChip since i didn't turn up for the race. Argh...

had a nice day at her place lah, shan't go into details. She's really a happy host. lol... although my head was real painful despite the medicine. After dinner, took 131 to novena. Then i felt so tired and groggy, decided to alight at Bencoolen instead. Then took 857 back to Yishun, transferred to MRT to Woodlands. Really loooooong.

today was spent resting the day at home. However the damn drilling started from 9am to 5pm, to hack the flooring for my new lift landing outside my house!!! Damn, and they only did the upper floor and its so noisy! Can't bear the noise for tomorrow, when they actually hack my floor. *faint*

but today is so fulfilling - did many stuff

- tidy the shelf below my computer table (full of dirt and soot... yucks)
- fixed moses' 2 beloved computers
- vacuumed my room, my bed, every nook and corner
- cleaned 2 desk fans
- scrubbed my toilet wall and flooring
- bought knee guards for mum, drinks for fridge
- borrowed Ajax and .net 2.0 books
- kopi with usual friends

Capacitors gave way, the Compaq comp died. Really.

See the bloated pair of cylinders... sigh

going to work on my fish tank, and YX's watercooling project tomorrow. Hope i can finish them.
